Flu Cough & Fever

Why does these 3 friends have to come hand in hand when ever one of them visits? Or is it better for them to come together then separately? The past few days was the worst that I can remember since. Went to the clinic almost even other day, expecting the doctor to whip up so miracle cocktail to cure them instantly. Oh! I was at work, no MC taken even thou it was issued not because it’s end of the year just to maintain a nice clean records for evaluation but it’s just that I do not want to bow to my visitors. No lah, it’s just that I dun think so I can get more rest at home than at work. So it makes no difference and maintain my absenteeism records as well.

The reason why I visited the clinic so many times just for this past few days it’s because I find the medicine given was not working at all. Fren asking me “did the cough wake you up at nite?” I said no, “I wake up to cough at nite”. “Whoa! Like dat ah so serious meh? Dry cough or kahak(phlegm) cough?” I replied “Well day time and mid nite time it’s dry, but then in the morning I got phlegm wan wor, so it’s what?” then suggested to sapu (apply) Vicks on the throat. I dowan because the sticky feelings, how to sleep wor? So back to the clinic. I went to see the doctor and demanded for something stronger, or at least I think it’s stronger and for wat you know the doctor could have just given me placebo. Hehehe… Well thanks to the internet and well as watching too much episodes of House and Grey’s Anatomy that provide me with basic medical knowledge, I went to negotiate with the doctor.

You see, the clinic I patronize belongs to a big chain so this is just one of the outlet happened to be nearest to my office thus the convenience. They have those half past six doctor on duty most of the time and they are there just to make sure that the nurse not stealing anything and burn the place down. Here is the actual conversation as far as I can recall:

Me walk in and take a seat next to the doctor’s table. (this time the doctor happens to be a overweight lady in her late 40) with some anatomy text book opened in front of her.
(She was coldly eyeing my movement and sort of like signaling me to tell what’s wrong with me)

Me: I have sore throat, cough and I think fever! (by the extra coarse voice I had, no need a doc also can tell I got flu or sore throat la)
She: Very bad cough? How long dy?
Me: Ya very bad, since yesterday.
She: No lah, kenot be, sounds very serious. Kenot be just started since yesterday.
Me: Ok then, since last Saturday!
(then she started to using the stethoscope to rub my chest, dully push my head away from her and asking me to breathe hard, then put it on my back as well)
She: Very serious cough ah? 1st time like this?
Me: Ya ya (nodding)
She: I’ll give you Ventolin, your body can take it. your size got no problem taking it!
Me: Ventolin! Do I need ventolin!?
She: Your cough is very serious and since you are coughing so bad it helps.
Me: *blink* *blink* Err doctor ah, you got hear wheezing sound ah just now?
She: No… but you have a lot of phlegm on your throat and in your lungs
Me: You can hear my phlegm?
She: No.
Me: So I got no wheezing and no phlegm sound and u wanna give me ventolin?
She: Sometimes it’s hard to hear the phlegm sound when it stick so hard on the throat and lungs. Do you experience short of breath?
Me: (in my heart, Hello… flu and cough lah, wat u think!?) yes, is the phlegm causing it?
She: No, your weight. You need to lose some pounds. Then you will breathe easier…
Me: (Kanasai this doctor!) So u think I need the ventolin?
She Yes, you may use it, if it gets more serious then we need to put you on nebulizer.
Me: Huh? So Serious ah? I got asthma meh?
She: if your cough continues to be this serious. Now can you cough and let me hear.
Me: I can’t cough now. Krokk.. krokkk….! See no cough ( I dunno why my throat not itchy at all at that moment)
She: I’ll give you something to loosen your phlegm and throat.
Me: I want Zyrtec.
She: Ok, you want mc too?
Me: No need la. I drink the cough syrup at nite time only lor.
She: You better rest more. I give you mc for tomorrow. Try to lose some weight, it helps.
Me: (in my heart: wah kettle calling the pot black wor. yourself ah fat until the ring kenot be removed from your fingers somemore dare to ask me lose weight) ok ok….
She: You know quite a bit on medicine ah, you study before?
Me: No lah, watch too many sitcoms. Hahaha….

Then I waited for about 15 minutes for the nurse to gather all my medicine. Sigh…. No sick also wait until sick…..

The Arrival

I’ve read numerous blogs and never wanted or even motivated to own one until recently. Suddenly found out that my buddy actually started her own blog, 3 years ago. And on top of that, people that came and left along the way in my life have their blog too. So it’s time for me to start one. Personally I believe, there is no such thing too late. It’s fun and interesting to read others blog but, to start one on my own is rather difficult. Take the registration of the blog page for example. You need to come up with a blog title. And then you keep thinking is this the correct title? Can I change it later? What if I can’t change this? If I registered the wrong title, will I regret for my whole life, or do I just have to live with it? After all it’s your own fault putting in the wrong title. Then you will start to think, who will be my audience? Who will read my blog? What would they say?

However for those of you who know me long enough, you will be able to tell that I’m a ‘lantaklah’ person. As long as I’m happy doing whatever I’m doing and I dun give a damn on wat you thinking. After all it’s my blog, and you have no business correcting me or criticizing me on the way I wanna present and deliver my blog. You are just a reader, you are supposed to read and maybe or occasionally gives constructive ideas on how I should improve it. but it’s up to me to adopt your ideas. Nevertheless, I will not deliberately hurt anyone’s feeling. Hey! At least I tried. It’s the effort that counts. I will try to maintain this blog of mine by continues posting whatever interesting or uninteresting thingy, so that I can occupied some of your time. Hahaha… I like getting attention, don’t I?
